Oh love you sent in spring
this bright blue bird
with cobalt feathered brow
a radiant hand of flowers
dangling from thickening stems
how beautiful the wind
that blew my heart to bits
against her purple breast
oh love
just as my sight was failing
and all the world seemed dulled
with pretense
just when i thought my flannel
sheets would be the last safe hands
to caress my naked body
she came with her two~olor eyes
dancing mane in shades of tinted brown
deep pleats of orange laughter
hiding in her blue-moon breast
oh love at last i rose
to catch each shiny ray of moon
to conspire with the stars
about silver ribbons for her hair
one streak of copper sun
with amber beads i fastened
to her neck
her mouth rare colored murals
parted like the sea
and love, dear god
she was radiant
oh love you sent me
this amber tinted girl
with undulating dances
like the wind
to shake my legs
and fill my arms
in that winter
which grew so cold
from my window
in this new reign of spring
see the red and purple dahlias
bloom again
these sobs that break this season
shake my heart like new
oh love
oh love why didn't you
send me rain instead
